From a very young age, Carlos felt a deep attraction to the water. The ocean, rivers, and estuaries sparked a constant curiosity in him. It was a connection difficult to explain but impossible to ignore. He was always wondering what existed beneath the surface.

Over time, he met a friend who was passionate about outdoor activities and invited him to fish at a reservoir. It was there that Carlos discovered largemouth bass fishing. The structure, the environments, and especially the variety of topwater lures completely changed the way he viewed fishing.

Not long after, he discovered snook fishing and realized that very close to his home there was a river that flowed into a mangrove area, the perfect habitat for this species. That realization marked the beginning of a passion that would soon become something much bigger.

Carlos started his first business focused on snook fishing, guiding both international and local anglers. With every trip, his experience grew, as did his network within the fishing world. Along this journey, he met Adrián Arreola, who shared the same passion.

Unlike Carlos, Adrián had only a few years of experience in fishing. He began fishing from the shore, mainly surf fishing, but since childhood he had also felt a strong connection to the ocean and a genuine attraction to this way of life.

After exchanging messages and sharing a few fishing trips, the idea of filming a video came up. By that time, Carlos had already opened a small tackle shop under the name Snook Mafia. That was when the name was born, strong, authentic, and directly tied to his passion for snook. Carlos became known as Mr. Snook, recognized for his exceptional ability to catch this species and for adapting bass fishing techniques to rivers and mangrove environments.

To grow Snook Mafia as a company dedicated to snook fishing trips on the Ameca River, the idea of producing a video naturally followed. Adrián immediately stepped forward. Filming and editing were his strengths.

The goal was clear. To showcase their fishing style, but also to deliver a message. To promote catch and release, a fundamental practice in the face of one of the greatest challenges of fishing in Mexico, the lack of awareness about species conservation, size limits, bag limits, and seasonal regulations.

Beyond attracting clients, they sought to build a strong visual identity. Videos and photographs that could speak for themselves, transmitting emotion, respect for nature, and a different way of living fishing.

This is how Snook Mafia began to take shape. Not as a simple agency, but as a lifestyle. The vision was always to create meaningful trips, organize expeditions to new destinations, apply innovative techniques, share time with friends, and enjoy every outing to the fullest.

Snook Mafia represents awareness, exploration, and innovation. It is about traveling, learning, sharing, and respecting. It is about discovering new waters, refining techniques, and continuing to grow within the world of sport fishing.

Today, Snook Mafia is the only company in Puerto Vallarta offering certified guides trained in multiple fishing styles, including popping, jigging, fly fishing, live bait, and trolling, among others. At the same time, we have built a brand with a clear purpose: to promote conservation, responsible fishing, and a lifestyle where fishing is at the center of everything.

Snook Mafia was not born to follow the path. It was born to define it.
